What you need to drift

The e36 is a great platform to build a drift car because they are cheap rwd cars and they have a decent amount of power from the factory to get some mint drifts rolling. Here are some tips on how to turn your e36 into a serious drift car.

some major things that will need to be done to get your car drift ready are stripping the interior, installing a hydrolic e-brake, coil-over suspension, and increasing the angle of the front casters. loosing as much weight as possible is a very important part of making a drift car, the less weight you have the more nimble and responsive the car will be around corners. adding a hydrolic e-brake is the best way to lock up the rear wheels and enter a drift, they are relatively cheap and easy to install. coil-overs are the best way to custom fit how your car handles while drifting and when set up right can maximize stability while drifting and minimize under-steer.

Increasing the angle of the front casters allows the front wheels to hold more of an angle so you can steer and be in control even while completely sideways, this is an upgrade that only very experienced drifters will really need. adding a roll cage and bucket seats with harnesses is key to make sure you are safe if something goes wrong and may be required at some drift tracks and courses.
